The 323i head has a flow equivalent to the Eta head. In fact, they are similar, except for the number of oil passages and cam journals. Intake and exhaust valves and ports are smaller to the i head.

But to gain power you need to open that head to specs similar to the i head.

Only adding bigger injectors will not give much more HP if you can not breath more air in and out. If you intend to keep your bottom end, try to locate a used 323i head and have it ported to similar specs as the i head.

The 323i engine and a cam can work marvels because of that low end grunt that the longer stroke can give.

My Hartge H23 engine is 23 year old and still quite powerfull. The mods are only applied to the head. Cam and bigger valves. Of course the use of 94 octane gas is necessary when pushing the engine.

An adjustable cam sprocket will only move up or down the powerband. You do not need it.

If you are serious about keeping that peppy 323i engine, call Rodd Sidney from Texas. He has a few brand new bare 323i heads for $500. Fresh casting. Send it to Eric Kerman from NY for a performance job.
