As Rolf properly stated, it is a plus when you have to swap your wheels often and quickly. It is not cheap to change to studs but if you do drivers schools, it is better.
My local shop sold me studs with the same thread as the original on BOTH ends, and the tip has an hex hole for screwing them in.
$3 cdn apiece, that is around $50, or $35 US plus the bolts.
