: I sold my '98 M3 last week - just not practical enough to own in Alaska. Drove it only 10K miles in 2 years, and hated like heck to see $40K sitting idle in the garage just depreciating for 7 months out of the year. So.....

: This Wednesday, I will be buying a '91 325iX coupe with only 62K miles. The body is okay - lots of paint chips and scratches, but no major dents. The engine is strong and runs nicely. I'm not expecting this thing to even come close to my M3, but my question is, what performance mods can I install to make the thing a little more fun to drive?

: I considered a Tri-Flo exhaust, but it seems like a lot of money (about $900). Will it really make a noticeable difference?
: How about a JimC or Dinan chip?
: What is the optimum air intake?
: Is there a supercharger available for this car, and if so, what will it do for the performance? (approx. cost and 0-60 or 1/4 mi times?)

: Since I just got a check for $38K, I have a little money to play with, though I don't really want to spend a ton of it on this car. This car is going to be driven through rough Alaskan winters, and so I am classifying it in my mind as a "beater". But the racing blood is still flowing in my veins, so I wouldn't mind "beating" at least a couple of people with my "beater" if you know what I mean. :-)
