: Can anyone tell me if a chip in a 87' 325e would make a noticeable differance in performance, and which one would you recommend, ie Dinan,

A word of caution on chips, some chip programers use dangerously lean fuel mixtures to produce top end power increases. Under hard driving conditions (sustained full throttle driving) this can cause burnt valves, burnt pistons, and over time maybe even the death of your engine. I've seen this happen before at the track. Because I'm not fond of law suits, I won't name which popular chip maker was in question. But if you race or like to run your car hard, it's important that you check your spark plugs on a regular basis for tell tale signs of a lean burning engine!
