the alternator is pushed by combustion, which this fan is designed to accelerate, so it's not just robbing the same amount of power, it's doing some good by increasing the chemical reaction. The question to ask is how much good it's doing. The alternator offset will be practically nonexistant in the grand scheme of things, but there's not much performance boost either.

after reading all the advertising speel, I'm not going to buy one because although the idea and design are good, it's not enough to matter. if there was a way of increasing the boost to an amount that made a difference, than it'd be worth it.

from what I understand of bmw engines, this thing will just be like pressing the gas pedal a little bit harder... putting in more air, which the computer adds more fuel, so it's not going to be worth it. If you drive something designed with poor engineering (say a dodge K car) than you may actually get something out of it.

just remember that superchargers and turbochargers don't just push air in the engine by force, they actually compress the air so more O2 molecules occupy the same amount of space in the engine. This effect takes way more than 1/2 psi of pressure.

: As for the "electric supercharger" itself, it's a joke. Go home, cut a hole in your airbox, and duct tape a hair dryer to it, you will get the same effect. That's literally what this thing is. It's an electric fan that hooks to your airbox, and runs off the alternator. I assume it's supposed to give a "Ram air" effect, but you have to figure that any negligible HP gain you might get is offset by the drain on the alternator.
