Need help with a speedometer problem (archive)

I took my instrument cluster off and am not sure where a single wire that plugs into a green contact plug on the backsideof the speedometer goes. There are several possibilities in the green plug where it could go. Any help? Also, the speedometer is not working. I have a tach put no speedometer. The diff. had been in another car and hadthe electric connection had worked in the previous car. Any suggestions? Thanks
