As the others have said, the brakes on the E30 325's are sucky for a lack of better word. They eat pads like crazy due to their small size. I have used both Cool Carbons (Cool Willy's) and Hawks on my '91 325i and found them both to work well. The Hawks stop better but also eat more rotors. I used to get 2-3 days at the most on a set but since I have gutted the car (about 300 lbs!!!) I use them less :-) My personal feeling is cross-drilled rotors (please don't flame me guys) are overrated and I prefer the ATE grooved rotors and they tend to be cheaper too. Having said all of this, my mechanic (a club racer) have suggested I try some Mintex pads next. I will be going to the Glen this weekend and once I take off the Hawks, I will let you know how the Mintex works.
