I've tried a bunch of spring/strut combo's and all I can say is...Eibach! They offer the best compromise between ride and handling of any I've tried, bar none. Lowering is around 1.6 in., looks great, and several of my customers swear they ride as well or better than oem. I'd go with Bilstein Sports if you like a firm (not harsh) ride, or perhaps some Boge Turbo Gas struts for a little softer ride. This isn't meant to be an ad for my shop, but I can supply these at good prices if you want, email me directly.
J. Conforti definately makes THE chip for these cars, you'll be very happy. If you haven't found an LSD yet, I'm about to replace the 3.45 LSD in my E28 535is w/a 3.73, if you're interested in the 3.45, email me. Great ratio for an Eta upgrade! Good luck on your project!
