: I have an 86 325es that I've owned since new. It has 160,000 miles and runs great. There is a small oil leak out of the back of the head but very little considering the age of the car. I am about to do the yearly valve adjustment and am considering changing the head bolts to the new design. Am I crazy or should I leave well enough alone?

: I have a surgeon friend that once taught me a lesson. He said that "the enemy of good is better".

: What are your thoughts?

I would change the head bolts for the torx head ones anyway, but are you sure its the head leaking and not the 2 rubber wedges in the back of the head. They are semi-circular in shape and sit at the end of the rocker arm shaft, in the cutuout for the rocker shaft removal.
