Check your control arm bushings first. If the rubber inside the bushing is cracked, that's at least part of your problem. You can buy the new bushings at half the price on Ebay, then have your mechanic install them. Make sure he knows what he's doing, as there is a specific procedure to be followed when installing these. I picked up a set of these OEM bushings for $21.95 on Ebay. Depending on mileage, you could need new ball joints, which I believe requires replacing the entire control arm. Two questions...does the shimmy go away when you brake? Do you have after-market rims?
