: Would also appreciate suggestions. only working guage is speedometer, my tach doesn't even move
: have tried 2 clusters from local yard, would batteries affect all guages?

: : I have a wierd problem with the temp gage on my 87 325. It doesn't work when the engine is running. I turn off the engine, then turn the key to 'on' and it works! Any suggestions?? Also, the service indicator lights do not work at all. Is this related??

Try replacing the SI battery on back of instrument cluster. Dead battery can cause all kinds of crazy symptoms. Should be standard ni-cad
put in battery holder and install where it is easier to get to next time.
