: I'm looking into buying a used 325i. Today I looked at one that's an '89 with 97k miles on it. The guy who's selling it said that the ac doesn't work, that the sunroof needs a new handle, and that it needs a new heating core (@ $400 apparently). The outside was in excellent condition except a few scratches here and there. The car drove beautifully. The problems he mentioned seemed fairly easy to fix (maybe I'm wrong about that?), but one thing that did concern me was that there was some rust on the body, under the bumper, near the muffler. I have two questions: Is that rust something I should be terribly concerned about? And, if not (ie if the rust isn't a deal-breaker and I were to make an offer on the car), what would be a fair price? He's asking $6000, but is anxious to sell.: Thanks for your help!

Hello. I just purchased a 1990 325i with 97,000 miles on it, nearly perfect leather interior and a very nice repaint on a rust-free and accident-free body, for $3800. It needed an exhaust system and tires. The car runs very well except for a fluctuation in the idle after a long highway ride. I would make sure I checked all of the body parts to ensure that the serial number matches showing no major accidents. Not sure where you are, but in South Florida, these great cars are very, very inexpensive. I wouldn't pay that much at all. Probably no more than $4000 if that was all I could find. Good luck, but you might want to look at TraderOnline for some better deals.
