Removing rear seat from 89 325i - (archive)

I see no obvious way to remove the rear seat (not the bottom cushion, I got that) from my car. Don't see the 'two bolts' referred to in the archives about seat removal. It seems to be held on at two points near the top. Do I just yank harder??

And as long as I am posting - I was recently told that changing the exhust system on my car will not improve performance. I thought that was one of the first and -easiest- things to modify on any car to improve gas milage and performace. Have I been wrong all along? Comments??

TIA
Chris
