Why do you want to replace your evaporator? Does it leak or have a problem with it? Yes you would have to remove the center console to get to it.

: Can anyone tell me how to change out the A/C evaporator? I have a 1988 M3. My Bentley's manual does not give instructions for removing the Heater Box or even if this is necessary to change the evaporator. Any tips?
