problem with the engine when on idle (archive)

I have a 1991 325i BMW. Recently I am having problems with engine dying on me when I stop. I have no problems with the engine when I am driving. Its smooth and check engine sign doesnot come. But when I stop at a stop light the check engine sign comes on. Also engine sounds really rough and my car kind of shakes. Everything is fine when I start driving. (I drove a thousand miles without any problems recently other than the dying when idle)

I had taken my car for an oil change couple months back and they accidently triggered an alarm off that they thought of cutiing by reseting the computer (thats what they told me. I was not around when they did it.) Could this have anything to do with my present problem? Also can I reset or make some adjustments to this computer to fix this problem?

I would appreicate a great deal if someone can help me out on this.
