Fuel sending unit good but still reads wrong (archive)

Hello,
My sending unit checks out good and is not stuck but my gauge still reads a full tank. I looked at the cluster and gauge is grounded, the gauge still reads full all of the time. It will fall down for brief periods of time maybe once every two-three weeks. I own an 318i so I have a single gas tank and a L-Motronic system with one single sending unit, I know its working fine because my low fuel light will illuminate. Any ideas?
