Hello all you A/C experts, I need your help. I purchased a 1987 325IC last summer. The A/C compressor was frozen and the hoses connecting to it were undone. I checked around for an A/C compressor (Nippondenso 10P15e) and they want around $400.00 for a rebuilt one. I proceeded to go to a junk yard where I bought a 10P15E for $75.00. Today I installed the compressor and belt.

My questions:

Since the old compressor was frozen, is there any additional items I should replace, I have been told by the BMW shop that I should replace the drier and expansion valve. Should these be replaced, or are there any additional items that should be replaced ?

I bought a R-134a retrofit and charging kit but it states that the system should be evacuated by a professional without venting the system. Since the hoses were undone from the compressor when I bought it, it has been vented. Will I have problems using this kit since the system has been vented ?

I am tempted to just go ahead and add the R-134a and see what happens, but wanted to get other opinions as to what I should do....

I appreciate your help.....

Thanks,

Steven
(87 325IC with no A/C in DALLAS)
