Just FYI: '87 325ic was missing ambient temp sensor. Ordered new one ($51 from dealer, I know it's crazy but when something bugs you it's worth it), plugged it in and now OBC works properly. Time/date is now default reading, not -22 deg F.

By the way, as many do not know, the plug/outlet for the temp sensor is beneath driver's headlight right under the bumper. Has enough wire to hang beneath and outside the bumper. The sensor itself comes with about 12" wire, wire plugs right into outlet/plug and other end (little black sensor) plugs into a hole in the front air dam.
