I received a recall notice for the coolant system of my 1986 325es. They want to install a new radiator cap and "thermostatic bypass valve".

Am I wrong in thinking that I've had this care for 14 years and there has been no problem, playing with the coolant system at this point is asking for trouble?

Any rational thoughts accepted.
