I posted the NHTSB recall notice and number on this a few weeks ago. The reason for the recall??? The pressure is too high and can burst the heater core. When that happens the driver/passenger will get burnt badly. It's a fairly harmless procedure so have it done.

BTW. Don't have any other work done while at the dealer. They might think recall's are a good way to get you into their shop.

: : : I received a recall notice for the coolant system of my 1986 325es. They want to install a new radiator cap and "thermostatic bypass valve".

: : : Am I wrong in thinking that I've had this care for 14 years and there has been no problem, playing with the coolant system at this point is asking for trouble?

: : : Any rational thoughts accepted.

: : Seem to be purely preventive measures. I have 200k+ on my 88' it runs a little hot here in Baltimore and I don't think these things will prevent anything. It is good to know BMW will still address problems with cars this old. Andy

: Andy's point is GOOD. 14 years in to it- they are STILL interested in the E30's saftey. GOTTA LOVE IT.... Beside's it's FREE.... That is not a word heard OR spoken at the $tealer
