It's not the "shock" (gas spring). First, they only HELP to push the seat upright when you pull the lever - they don't HOLD it in position. Secondly, I swithched them between the passsenger seat - to no avail.

: Mine does it too. The parts CD shows a small gas shock that forces the seat back. It's a gonner. Good luck.
