I have a 90 325i which I drove in Boston last winter and had an 86 325e which I drove in Boston since 1995. I equipped mine with 4 snows, studded in the rear and put an 80 lb. bag of sand in the trunk against the back seat thus between the rear wheels. I never had a problem and drove in all kinds of weather. I tried snows on the rear wheels only (Keelly Springfield) and experienced a floating sensation in the front - corrected by placing snows on front as well.
