Yup that sounds about. It Isn't too hard to replace the heater core, just a little messy. But yes that is the proper flow, it comes from the back of the head into the bottom one and returns to the thermostate housing thru the top one. Do keep in mind that there is a recall on this particular problem, check the archives, it was posted by Chris Graff.

: I got my car back from the shop the other day. And when I would take the thing in for oil changes they would always top off my coolant before then. I thought it was just using up coolant. When I got it back the coolant light under the sunroof came on. So I didnt give it much thought until I heard a bubbly noise and it started to get a little hotter than normal, I pulled over and probably had to put half a gallon of water in it. Its been 3 days, the floorboard is getting wet (driver side) and its my understanding that coolant flows through the A/C condensor and heater core. Since the floor is wet and Its not leaking under the engine im assuming my heater core is busted. I want to bypass it but Im not sure how the flow goes. It looks like 2 pipes come out of the A/C thing and go into the firewall. what do I need to do to these to bypass the Heater core and still keep the coolant flow?
