Yes it gets fasters as the RPM's get higher, not louder but faster. I thought the m42 had hydraulic lifters, I may be wrong tho.


: : I just finished installing a 95 m42 engine into my 91 318is. The engine seems to have a small tick. Not very loud but not really quiet either. Does anyone have any ideas where to look? The engine has 70k on it and was bought from a reputable(sp) individual.

: Jake I see you got one congrats. is it a constant ticking does it go away with RPM's or does it get louder or faster if it does it is probaly a vavle that meeds adj. Post up some more info on the sound PETE
