: I got my car back from the shop the other day. And when I would take the thing in for oil changes they would always top off my coolant before then. I thought it was just using up coolant. When I got it back the coolant light under the sunroof came on. So I didnt give it much thought until I heard a bubbly noise and it started to get a little hotter than normal, I pulled over and probably had to put half a gallon of water in it. Its been 3 days, the floorboard is getting wet (driver side) and its my understanding that coolant flows through the A/C condensor and heater core. Since the floor is wet and Its not leaking under the engine im assuming my heater core is busted. I want to bypass it but Im not sure how the flow goes. It looks like 2 pipes come out of the A/C thing and go into the firewall. what do I need to do to these to bypass the Heater core and still keep the coolant flow?
I just took my 325ix in for service and they installed a heater core bypass kit under warranty. my 89 had a recall for that year, you might want to check with your local bmw dealer..
