First try just unplugging the connector and re-plugging it after you've found it as advised by the other posts here. If that doesn't work, I know of no way to "test" the sensor as it is a solid-state (semiconductor device) that actually passes a small amount of current in direct proportion to the temperature. It depends on a constant voltage applied across it to do this.

You can, however test the system w/o the sensor: open ckt the temp should read -22*F. See my post late last week for resistors you can substitute across the plug to check the OBC. It was "ambient sensor trick"..
