< No help on the headlight, you're on the right track with the multimeter.. but will offer a bit on the noise/rumble. I assume this didn't suddenly start up after a weekend of autocrossing, club racing or other sprited throttle artistry?
Obviously it's a Manual. The throw-out bearing should tell you it needs changed by getting a noise whenver you just start to press in on the clutch, taking up the "free-play" and setting it to spinning. You'll probably also feel it a little in the pedal. If you need a throw-out bearing, do the clutch at the same time...
If it's a rattly-rumble idling with the clutch out,and goes away with the clutch in then it's just a little wear in the tranny..the gears are turning with no load in neutral, and any uneven inertiaral loading due to jazzing the throttle or uneven idle will make the gears give-and-take in their clearances and make some noise. If the lube is clean and the tranny shifts ok, ignore it, or change to Red-Line MTL in the tranny(a good idea anyway in my opinion).

If you get the noise in first while rolling, then it may be drive-line. Is it worse going round a corner at slow speeds?: spider gears in the diff. Again, Red-Line to the rescue. No, I don't have stock in Red-Line!

Otherwise, this is tough without hearing it.. Maybe we could start attaching MP3 files to our posts for the audiophiles to t-shoot from!

Tom
