I own a 1986 325 and it has anti lock brakes. Last winter I took a trip to FL and it Snowed from Georga All The Way to New York. I felt for shure this would be the end of my BM. Instead I was driving around all other stuck cars and Big rigs, looking behind me at those poor saps with un-balanced front wheel drive cars. (although probably few ahd good radials that far south) I newer spun or lost controal however my top speed for most of the trip was 40 mph. I'v driven many cars through the many a winter, but the FL trip was the worst i'v seen roads ever, to have survived this trip is a testiment, to the car and good tires. : My wife drove a car with traction control and it was okay in the snow. I drive an iX which (being all wheel drive) does fine. You're going to hear that e30's with snow tires are okay in the winter but I have to disagree. I've only driven the 325is in snow and maybe the 318 is better because it has less torque but I'm hear to tell you the 325 is scarey on snow and ice. Traction control wasn't available until 94 so no e30 had it. You'll have to pony up the big bucks for an e36 if you want it. If you get an e30 318 get a set of snow and ice tires for winter, put 150lbs. of sand bags in it, carry a cell phone and a toe rope and hangon!!
