Cheap route:

Try a stock ECU from an American 325i and see if it will work with your car (trial and error engineering) the worst case scenero is that it won't start and you'll have to try something else. If it works, you can take your chances with a Jim C chip and maybe it might be the right mapping for your cam.

Better route:

If you plan on using a 288 cam (and proper valve springs) then you really should spend the extra bucks to get a 5 angle valve job and porting done. It will nearly double your HP gain from the cam. With that said, the correct way to chip your car is to have it dyno tuned and get a custom chip burned. Depending on who you know, that usually costs about $400-$600 and I would imagine could be done on your euro ECU if it has an e-prom chip.
