Well, I was coming back from a car show one night and doing about 120 - 125 mph on the road back. A car came up from behind me so we raced for a bit. During this, I lost power to around 115mph max! I slowed down and the car sounded like it had a V8 in it!! I got it home OK and checked it out the next day. I initially thought the middle exhaust section had gone. But it hadn't./ i started the car and the engine had a loud noise and shook lots when I revved it. I gave it to a friend who has a garage and he checked it out and told me that cylinder 1 was not firing properly. he diagnosed the valve to be the problem.

Hope this helps.

Dear Kam,
I am wondering what the symptoms were on your 2.5 that had a bent valve. Did it have a distincitve sound? I am trying to diagnose my 2.5 and had considered a possible bent valve.
How would I go about boring out my 2.5i engine into a 2.7i engine?

My car is in the garage at the moment as one iof the valves is bent. I plan on getting a performance cam and chip, but would also like to bore it out to 2.7 to hit the 200
+bhp mark. What would I need to take into consideration, and what other BMW's could I source parts from? I live in the UK.

Thanks.
