For yuks, i ran a Carfax check on my 85
Golf GTi, and they reported that it had it's
emissions tested in Lancaster, California several
times (which is completely untrue), and that it
had failed a few smog tests which is also
completely untrue. I've owned it since new and it
has never even come close to failing a smog test
and always passes with flying colors. I wrote
them for an explanation and they replied that i
must be mistaken. On my 89 325is, there are two
smog tests that are not on their report despite
the fact that the car has been tested every two
years since it was new (and i have the reciepts
from the previous owner). I wrote them about it
and this time they said sometimes things don't
get reported. Needless to say i don't have a
lot of confidence in their ability to accurately
report a car's history. FWIW.
