It is your water pump. The funny thing about this model is that it is not easy to get to. Once you do get it changes also have your termo changed and flush rad. Your be back in business.

Help! My sons 318is developed a "screeching" sound and will not stay running. It will start, then the noise starts and it quits. Waterpump? No leaks. What might this be!? Any ideas or cures. The car has approximately 125k on it and has been running great up until yesterday.
