You would know it if you're hitting the rev limiter. In first gear it feels like you got to the end of the rope around the rear axle and you'll keep bouncing off it if you keep your foot in it. On my chipped 325es I can't hit the 5300 mark. The eta just can't breath above 5000 and the valves are probably just floating.Foyster
I have had my gages apart this weekend. The tach does not physically move beyond 5000 so this could be another reason. And yes it feels exactly like you described, bouncing off the limiter. Don't make a habit of bouncing off the limiter it is hard on the crankshaft. Anyway many of my problems have gone away and I have new ones to tackle now.
