Get a life loser.

Alright, well today, my friend set up a race for me against a 1988 1988 Civic CRX SI...my 1987 BMW 325iS is running stock, and the CRX has an intake...and its air conditioning was taken out (I think he took out the compressor but not the blower)...to the point he beat me...but all the guys that went with us to our local drag strip said that I wasnt shifting fast enough...anyways, I stopped driving stick in April, then about 3 weeks ago I started driving stick again..
Would my slow shifting be my weak point? or should I reduce the weight of my BMW to be able to win? since I'm only in high school, and my parents dont throw money at me...I am on a very limited budget..please help!! I know that my BMW can beat the CRX because when I raced him yesterday with his AC compressor, I was right next to him.
thanks
