1986 325 Instrested in buying one (archive)

At a local used car lot there is a 1986 325 for sale. I do not know anything about i models or
is models if that is what they are. I need to know if it is a good idea to purchase the car for $1325.00 knowing that I have to invest more money or is it true that it was a bad yer for that model? I need help before the car is sold to someone else. I would greatly appreciate any responses on my inquire. Thank you.
