Another way to squeeze slightly more Ooomph from a BMW auto is to shift it like a manual. The key to doing this is spelled-out as follows;
*MAXIMUM SHIFT POINTS(Driver-Input Only)
1............0-3200 RPM
2............4500 RPM
3............5200 RPM
D............5700 RPM
a)From a dead stop, engage the lever in 1
b)Release brake and firmly apply gas to RPM range
c)Shift to 2
d)Continue applying gas until reaching third(3)shift point
e)At this point, your speed will be close to 95mph
f)Shift into D at 100mph, while continuing to accelerate
g)Never get the tachometer in the RED
h)Downshifting not necessary, due to kickdown, or downshift switch, near brake pedal
i)Downshift only if requiring engine braking torque-down, for tight turns, or a semi- emergency stop
j)The above are recommended tolerances

My '93 325isA (yes automatic!!!) is sluggish off the line and just doesn't have the kick that it should have. Any ideas why???
