Over in the E36 forum there is an ongoing argument regarding whether an auto transmission 325i would lose in a drag race against a manual 318i. Anyway, all this has got me thinking, I have a 1992 model (really manufactured late 1991) E36 318i 4 door sedan, and my Mom has a 1989 E30 318is 2 door coupe. Both are auto transmisson and are factory standard and unmodified. Since the chances of me ever racing my Mom are zero, I wonder which car would have the upper hand in 0 - 60mph acceleration and over the quarter mile? Anyone care to hazard a guess? I've always thought the E30 might be faster due to it being lighter and I'm thinking of getting an E30 as a second car, as I've always liked the squarer look.
