Hi Smitty,

There are 2 lines go from throttle body to the distributor. One is for advance, another is for retard.
The advance hose goes from manifold to the valve on the air filter body and from valve to the distributor.
The retard hose goes straight from the throttle body to the distributor.
Both of them go from the throttle but the difference is- one located before throttle , another after. I don't remember which is where but if you need more details I have the diagram for that and the book where is explanation for that.

Don't mess with the timing with incorrect vacuum, just set it to spec.
