in the 2 that I've worked on in the past 2 months, I've done several things.

1. get a friend to push really hard on the belts to increase tension on the water pump pulley and then loosen the bolt or

2. drill a hole through the center of the clutch to ruin the motion of it, then hold the fan/clutch to keep it in place.

also, use short bursts of force on the nut, and remember that it's reverse thread

I beg anyone in the LA/Orange county area! Does anyone have the tool needed to hold the water pump pully in place to remove the fan clutch. I am stuck at this point and need my car for work monday. I have tried the BMWCCA but it seems that everyone went to oktoberfest. Call me if you are willing to help!!! Call anytime. I can pick the tool up anytime! 626-319-1966.
