I just noticed that my oil service light recently came on in my 88 325is. The "oil-low" light is not on, but the yellow light is (below the tach adn between 3 green and 1 red). The car runs great, but I do not want that red light to come on. Can anyone steer me in the right didrection as to what should be my next step, without getting screwed by shady mechanics? Thanks to all that respond.

Change your oil yourself, if you feel it's needed. (probably is) If you don't want to yourself or don't know how...go to jiffy lube or similar place. Then do yourself a favor and look in the archives of this board and research how to re-set the service indicator lamps on your dash display. It's really easy to do. After you accomplish those 2 tasks you can breathe easy and enjoy the ride with no yellow or red lights.
