I just got a '90 325i and the breaks are squeeking. A friend of mine who used to work at a BMW place, said that they just have tight brake pads and they squeek. Has anyone else had this problem and is he correct???

I have 2 1992 325ic's and 1 1989 325i and none of them have squeeling brakes. It's probably the type of brake pads you have installed. Maybe the previous owner didn't like all the brake dust the softer pads produce and went to the more metalic kind that make less dust but more sound. It becomes a trade off.
