I am in the process of building a KP/ITS E30 racecar. While I have no doubt you could build a fantastic E30 for 30K I would seriously question the point of doing so. By the time you spent that much money you would end up with a DM/EP car and would still have the fundamental limitations of the E30 chassis. IMO for 30K you could buy a theft-recovered or otherwise untitlable E36 M3 and build up a better car.

What you could do to decide if you really want to do this is to go to a few BMW CCA club races and see what people are running and ask them questions. In my experience racers generally like to talk about their cars.

The big sources of BMW tuner parts in the US are Turner, Korman and TC Kline. There are lots of smaller outfits like HMS in Mass, VAC Motorsports in Philly, FasTech in Tenn, RedLine and Black Forest in Fla. Also Bimmerworld in VA is rapidly building up their tuning capabilities. These are all east coast outfits, which is what I know because that's where I am. I have either dealt with these guys personally or have friends that have and they are all reputable outfits. Some of these shops are running their own Speedvision WC cars.

In my experience the newer, smaller guys are willing to spend more time BSing with you on the phone than the big guys. Even so, Will Turner has always had time to answer my questions about his products and TC Kline has returned my calls even if it's taken him a long time to get back to me.

Just my $.02
