I have to change the timing belt on my 88 325. How long does a job like this take? And how much approx. for parts? The local BMW dealer wants around $700 for the job, which is outrageous! Is there anything I should also check/replace when I am that far into the engine? Can I change the timing belt without removing the crank pully? Thanks.

You should replace the water pump and thermostat while you're at it.
