It could be that the oil that you used beforehand was of a thinner consistancy. Did you replace the oil with an oil of a thicker consistancy? The thin oil could have been leaking, and the new oil change (with the thicker oil) may have stopped the leak.

(someone correct me if I am wrong)

Perhaps your drain plug and/or oil filter was a little loose. I'd wait a couple more days and see of the leak comes back - sometimes they do after settling in from the oil change. If it doesn't, then forget about it. If it does, take a look at the oil pressure sender - they can go bad and drip - or your oil pan gasket, which can leak like crazy after 100k miles. If it's the gasket, get ready for a long, annoying project. Getting the pan off is a PITA.

This goes to Bryan.. Actully yes I did put different oil in the car.. I believe that 10w40 was in thecar and now it has 10w30 which leads me to another question... it's kinda late to ask this but is 10w30 ok to use in an e30... it's getting colder around her in NJ and I was reading a chart in the bently manual about the temperature range that 10w30 can handle.. should I trust this or go for something 15w.....will the 10w30 go into a viscosity breakdown?
