Agree with the notion of having entire control arm installed, ready for proper positional set of new bushing. I was able (barely!) to push the new rubber bush (already in the "lollipop") onto the end of control arm using Palmolive dishwasher liquid as lubricant. When it dries, it's set.

Off the car, it's a piece of cake- my weight was plenty - but on your back under the car, it takes some strength... or one of those fixtures pictured in an ad in a recent Roundel. But it can be done manually!!

Good luck!

at the proper angle of contact to insure that the bushing does not preload before the weight of the car is on it. The best way is to put a block of wood between the bushing end of the control arm and the body of the car. Then with the wheel off use a jack under the control arm and jack it up just till the weight of the car is being lifted. Now assumeing that you have the bushing inside the ring with the marks lined up(arrows on the bushing ring and inside the bushing)put the ring next to the end of the control arm and use something to scribe a line on the control arm shaft and bushing to insure that when you put the bushing on the shaft that there will be no twist on the bushing when the car is at rest.

It is much easier to install the bushing with the arm off! But it may not be possiable to remove the control arm without damageing the ball joint boots.

Now lift car to take load off of control arm and put on jack stand. Lubricate inside if bushing with a lite oil or grease and line up previously placed markes. Also oil control arm end. Using a hammer lightly tap on the bushing and get it started squarely onto the shaft. Find a piece of pipe or other hard object that is larger than the inside dia. of the control arm end but no bigger than the outside of the inner metal of the bushing.(anything bigger will shear away the rubber from the bushing and make it useless) Drive away untill the handle of the ring is close to lining up with the two bolts. Then useing a jack lift controll arm up untill you can put in bolts. Tighten bolts to proper torque and your done.
