I have a 325i SE and have owned a 1990 944 S2. I love the BMW but the Porsche is far superior in handling and performance. The s2's 3.0 litre is very potent and torquey with the addition of the Turbo's gearbox an handling package it makes for a great handling and performing car. Reliability id easily on par with the BMW. I had a friend who had a 944 Turbo S who ran it on the track with 250k. its like any German car, do the maintenance at the correct intervals and they will run very strong.
I am currently looking at buying a 88 and up 325is for my main vehicle. I am very familar with this model and I am wondering 1. What modifications besides a cam, header, chip, 4.11 diff, and possible throtle body mods are advised?
2. I have seen a set of factory? BMW 6 spoke E30 15 inch rims on a 92 325ic that the owner says are factory. Am I the only one? If, not what models and years had these rims they are so sweet!
3.The other car I have been looking at is a 944 turbo or S2, how would a properly built 325is with 200 horses compare? I know the S1's are 180 horse, S2's are 208, and turbos are 217. But, they seem a little problematic for my tastes. So, a car I am more familar with (E30) fit me.
4.What is the stock horses for a 325is 88 and up from the factory?

Thanks, for the help yall, and I did look in the achives really well and didn't find an answer one.

Go to Korman auto works, any basic search can get you there. For the money I strongly recommend doing the Korman turbo. It is made by mosselman. It is a low boost, low maint. easy bolt on project. The nice thing is that everything else remains stock. This makes for easy and longterm maint and engine life, BUT.... the horses go to somewhere around 230, give or take. I have a 90 e30is and am in the process of a rebuild. I put 327k mis on the original motor and clutch etc. I know what Im talking about. Check out there site. These guys are fantastic and know there nuts and bolts. They aint cheap as it were, but you get what you pay for. Tell'm Ron sent you. Good Luck.
