In Reply to: 140,000... When should I expect a new clutch? posted by greg on December 24, 2000 at 20:07:06:

I have a 1984 325e with 342,000. At 320,000 I lost the 3rd/4th fork in the tranny. At 326,000 I bought a used tranny from Barry that had a 20,000mi clutch. There was hardly any difference between my old one and the new one. I keep the old one because no one believes that I went so long on a clutch. I have no doubt it would have gone 500,000mi. You just have to know how to shift.

just curious, especially about the cost. Car is a 1989 325iS, all stock, orig. female owner.
