My '86 es has a similar blower motor problem. A previous owner modified the blower motor to run without the switch using BMW fuses etc. Very strange. I think it was to bypass a problem with the microswitches in the HVAC controls, but I'm not sure. not a problem, unless you forget to turn off the fan. Someone may have done some creative rewiring on your car also. Just in case, check the 2 ceramic fuses just behind the main fuse block. They can get loose and short against each other causing things to work even though the ignition is off.Chuck
Hi Everyone!
I have had this problem with this car ever since I bought it and was hoping someone could help me. Sometimes when I turn off the ignition, and take out the key my heater/cooling fan continues to run but at other times it is fine. I have adapted to the situation by turning off the fan everytime I turn off the car but I sometimes forget. I am afraid I might end up draining the battery. What should I look at to cure this problem: a relay, a fuse?.
Omer.
P.S My window controls work without the key in the ignition as well. The difference being that the windows work like this all the time but the heater fan does it sometimes.
