I also had an arm rest in my 87 IS, for two days!! It did look very good but got in the way of shifting and parking brake.

I had it in my car at one time and you have to drill small holes into your existing console...4 bolts hold it securely and it looks nice and fits well but gets in the way of the parking brake at times... I still have mine but took it off for more room and sportier look...
