BMW RECALL FOR HEATER CORE fill me in!!!! HELP (archive)

Do you guys remember that recall bmw had for water leaking in the drivers foot area from the heater core?suppose to squirt and burn you if the car overheats.

my ? is what exactly did they do.I received the letter a while back,but it doesnt get into specifics.I think I heard somethng about a lower temp thermostat,and some bypass hoses or something.please let me know what the procedure is.i really dont want to take it to the dealer,as i dont trust anyone with my car.so far ive had it all this time with no problems.

does the car run cooler with this recall fixup????
Im not even sure if I really need this.I dont let my shit overheat because i keep everything up to date...but then again you never know.
